About Moksha Chocolate
Moksha Chocolate, based in Boulder, Colorado, is a small-batch artisan chocolate company renowned for its award-winning bean-to-bar creations. Founded by the husband-and-wife duo Jennifer and Michael Caines, the journey into chocolate began in 2013 when Michael, a horticulturist and Australian transplant, decided to shift away from his career in IT. Drawn back to food and farming, he seized the opportunity to purchase a cocoa farm in Peru. However, he quickly recognized that profits were not benefiting the local community. Determined to change this, Michael prioritized paying the farmers above market value and embraced traditional growing methods to produce high-quality cacao beans, ultimately improving both the local economy and the chocolate-making process.
